What is your excuse?

We all suffer from allowing our excuses to get the best of us. Whether we want to be financially fit, healthier, more consistent in our daily routines... When it comes down to attaining those things, it's often easier to allow a clever excuse to get in the way. After giving that some thought it occurred to me how often we allow our excuses to keep us tied down and chained in our current comfort zones, which are really of no real value to us. We opt to stay in debt, over look an important opportunity or keep up our current crazy life choices...which in turn make us more insane. I am not sure why we do this to ourselves and why we find comfort in sabotaging ourselves? As I know the Almighty doesn't wish us to stay stagnant in our old way of life, or He would not provide and opportunity for change in the first place. I have personally overlooked plenty of positive opportunities which has held me back from progress, placing myself on the the slow road, ending up ...

What is your WHY?

Look who grabbed the weights and decided to join Mommy today?! Its exciting to see the kids interested in what Mommy is doing and why we have made some many healthy changes over the last few years.  I started on my healthy journey for a few reasons. The first reason was that I was tired of being fatigued and sick often, and simply wanted to feel better and be more present with my family. The second was to place more value on the temple The Almighty put me in. We only get one body and should be more diligent to care for it! The third reason was to teach my family how to live a healthier lifestyle so they could pass it along for generations to come! And the last reason? Well that is just a bonus of making healthier choices daily. Weightloss!  What is your inspiration for being healthy and fit? #reason #why #fit #healthyforlife #tired #stuck #motivation #getstarted #exciting

Sweety, I got my period!

Since this is a Blog about PCOS, I am just going to come right out and be totally open about something most people would shutter to speak of out loud. My menstrual cycle! There!! I said it out loud. Now, you can uncover your eyes and keep reading. LOL! I have struggled with crazy menstrual cycles my entire life. I was a late bloomer and since the age of 14yrs almost 15yrs, I have not been able to have more the 3-5 cycles a year at most. Most ladies would be grateful not to have a period. And most women have been quite frank and told me outright how fortunate I am to NOT have mine. The fact of the matter is they just don't really understand why having a regular menstrual cycle is so important to me or the body. While I may seem crazy, I would prefer to be regular like most ladies because to me it's a sign of good health. Although periods are a pain to go through, they do provide several things for a woman. They help cleanse the body of the old and prepare for the new. A hea...

Keep it simple!!

Keeping things simple is my rule of thumb. The less ingredients the better. I had better be able to understand every ingredient on the list and not have to decipher it or google it! The fresher the better!! In my opinion your diet is a way of life and not something that is restrictive. Finding healthy options should not be frowned upon. Now days there are so many different ways to make fresher food options into so many fun and amazing tasting meals! Even ice cream!! So I encourage you to reach beyond your limitations and try out something new today. :)

How to Exercise Efficiently with PCOS

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom, also known as PCOS , is a condition that affects women in their reproductive years. It is basically the result of undeveloped ovarian follicles which create cysts that in turn release androgen (male hormones) into the bloodstream, causing an incurable chemical cycle. Starting as early as 12 years of age up to about 45, PCOS has been linked to infertility, acne, irregular menstruation, weight gain, release of male hormones and the most serious, insulin resistant diabetes. PCOS cannot be cured but it can be managed. Exercise is an excellent way to keep this condition from exacerbating and taking over your life. I have personally found that fitness is one key to maintaining a healthy body with PCOS. However not all fitness routines work well for everyone. What I found to be most effective is a balance between strength training and cardio. I used to only do cardio, which was great for my heart and breathing but did little for my weight loss. ...
