The DECISION is YOURS

This really hit home with me when I read it. It reminded me of how I used to behave, feeling victim of our situations and helpless to change our circumstances. It didn't matter if we had made a poor decision and had consequences do to those poor decisions or someone else was causing us troubles... I would focus on the negative and cause myself to be self defeated so that I would feel validated for more poor decisions. Thankfully I had a "Come to Jesus" moment and my eyes were opened to what was really going on. When I was able to see clearly, take owner ship of my mistakes, let go of the past and started reading the Bible regularly I was able to over come the head trash and started making better choices for myself. My health, positive thoughts, relationships, jobs, income and consistency improved. So whatever has been holding you back you are capable of overcoming and making a better life for yourself! #motivation #inspiration

Keep it simple!!

Keeping things simple is my rule of thumb. The less ingredients the better. I had better be able to understand every ingredient on the list and not have to decipher it or google it! The fresher the better!! In my opinion your diet is a way of life and not something that is restrictive. Finding healthy options should not be frowned upon. Now days there are so many different ways to make fresher food options into so many fun and amazing tasting meals! Even ice cream!! So I encourage you to reach beyond your limitations and try out something new today. :)

Sweet Potato Quinoa Cupcakes

I am so pleased that I got over my fear of baking with Quinoa! I'm not sure what held me back? It was probably because I just didn't want a screwed up a batch of muffins and have to throw them in the trash! If you haven't ever baked with it, you will be very happy with how even it bakes. The texture remains soft, and it still holds it's shape. Unlike regular wheat, that tends to crumble. The taste is really good too! You would never know it was Quinoa. My family really has enjoyed these muffins. For the recipe hop on over to my RECIPE page. I also have a recipe for Chocolate Chip Muffins which I will post later on.

Home School

It's that time again!! School is getting ready to start and so we are gearing up our plans for the new school year at home. Last year was our first year home schooling so it was a little strange due to all the changes within our family. Pregnancy and new baby... Made life just a little more difficult as we ventured into New Homeschooling territory. Thankfully the plus with home school is you can be very flexible, which came in handy for us last year. However this year I am looking forward to changing things up, as we learned what not to do, and what will work best for our family. Since I only have one child that is school age, (my son is 10 yrs and his sister is 4 months) it has been a challenge to find other homeschool families in our position. Most families are homeschooling more then one child and so the kids have lots of company and don't get lonely. But this was not the case for us. Once soccer season was over it was hard to find people who were willing to do outings o...

Building Your Family’s Healthy Eating Habits by Cooking and Eating Together

Including your children in the meal preparation process increases their awareness and appetite for healthy eating. When we as parents communicate interest and enthusiasm for making healthy meals, we are more likely to instill the same attitudes in our kids. The next time you are unsure about the importance of family meals, consider how shopping, cooking, and eating together will reinforce your family’s healthy habits by: Empowering your kids: Teaching your kids how to cook is something that will help them to make their own healthy choices as they grow up.  Cooking will allow your kids to develop their food preferences and understanding of nutrition to apply into their own healthy lifestyles. Improving Communication. Shared meals create an additional avenue of communication for families. It can be a place to discuss the day’s events, enjoy each other’s company, and provide a time for family discussions. Asking open-ended questions such as “How was your day?” rath...
